Your data and deleting it
What Glitterball stores when you record and comment, who can see it, and how to delete it or your account
What Glitterball stores
For each walkthrough:
- A recording of the prototype's page and what you did on it: cursor movement, clicks, scrolling and screen changes. It's a recording of the page's structure, not a screen video.
- A copy of the page as it was when you started
- Your narration audio, its transcript and a short summary
- Your camera recording, if the camera was on
- The walkthrough's name and any questions you added
Password, email and phone fields on the prototype are masked in the recording. Anything else you type into the prototype is recorded, so use test data.
For comments: the text, any video you recorded, where it's pinned, reactions, and who wrote it.
For your account: your email, name and picture (if you signed in with GitHub or Google), and the workspaces you belong to.
For hosted prototypes: the files you uploaded.
Who can see it
- Your workspace's members can see its prototypes, walkthroughs and comments
- Anyone with a share link can see what that link shows. See Share links and private links.
- Recordings replay inside a locked-down frame where nothing from the recorded page can run
Delete a walkthrough
Deleting a walkthrough removes its recording, narration, transcript, summary and camera recording, and stops its links playing. See Delete a walkthrough.
Delete a comment
Open the comment and delete it. Deleting a thread removes its replies too. You can delete your own comments; workspace members can delete any comment on their workspace's prototypes.
Leave a team
Leaving a team removes your access to its workspace. What you made there stays with the team. See Teams, roles and invites.
Download your data
In the web app, open the menu next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Account, then Download your data. You get a JSON file with your account, your workspaces, every walkthrough you recorded with its transcript and summary, and your comments and reactions.
Delete your account
In the web app, open the menu next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Account, type your email and click Delete account. It can't be undone.
- Your personal workspace, and any team you're the only member of, is deleted with every prototype, walkthrough and comment in it.
- In teams that carry on without you, your walkthroughs, comments and reactions are deleted. The team keeps its prototypes and versions.
- If you're the only owner of a team with other members, make someone else an owner first.
- If a workspace you'd delete has a paid plan, cancel it in Plans first.
Signing in with the same email later starts a new, empty account.
